Weekend Photo

© Brad Mangas

Each week I will begin posting an image that will be the Weekend Photo. Posts will typically go up  Saturday mornings, these will be images that will be or have been added to the gallery site at bradmangasphotography.com. When there is a specific story that is associated with the image I will share that as well.

I have mentioned a few times over the last couple of months that the gallery website is getting a complete overhaul. The new website is very close to coming online then I will begin to re-size hundreds of images  for the new gallery pages and begin adding them as soon as possible. If all goes well within the next 2 weeks the new look and design will become live. I haven’t added any new images for the last couple of months in preparation of the work being done so look for new work to show up as well. I will post more about the new website as soon as the work is complete.

I’ll kick the Weekend Image off with this “Sweetgum on Stone” take in Arkansas, October 2010. I spent 4 days and 3 nights in Arkansas the end of October. All time was spent exploring the beautiful landscape of the Ozark National Forest and the Buffalo National River. Camping deep in the woodlands helped to reconfirm my love for all that is nature. During a morning hike along a rocky creek this image was made. Leaves had began falling and had carpeted the rocky terrain  and waters edges. Rocks aren’t just rocks in the Ozarks they are boulders, giant hunks of stone some the size of houses lay silently as the winds and rains of ages smooth their hardened surface. Gum trees abound this part of the country as well scattering their recognizable colors throughout the landscape. Another intimate view of a vast beautiful land helping to once again confirm the joy of all that is nature.
