From a recent stay in the beautiful Kansas Flint Hills this image was made on the first nights stay at Chase County State Lake.
I really had no intentions of doing much if any night time photo shots but on my first night the weather was great and the skies were clear. I had just finished with a late campfire meal and before sacking down for the night I decided to take a little walk around and enjoy the crisp Autumn air. It didn’t take long before the sky became the center of my attention. Out came the camera and for the next 30 minutes or so I had it pointed to the stars. The lake had a few jetties that stuck out into the water and where I was camping at towards the western end provided a nice view towards the western horizon. The sun had set some hours previous but still provided a slight glow on the horizon with milky way and the silhouetting trees in the foreground.
