One of my favorite nature activities is exploring small creeks and streams. A wealth of intimate scenes exsist around every corner and along each new path. On one of my many outings to one of these creeks I spent time walking along the waters edge exploring animal tracks, gravel bars, rock formations paying close attention to the small scenes withing the scene. Surrounded by high tree covered banks I began looking closely into the shallow waters at the submerged rocks, limbs and leaves. Not making itself apparent at first I began to notice how the leaves of the late autumns oaks and maples lay silently just below the waters surface. Carefully choosing a composition that would highlight the beauty of the season in this hidden intimate place Submerged Autumn was created.
The power of standing silently, viewing what might otherwise be missed is one of the true joys of nature photography.
