Happy 1st day of summer! I was fortunate enough to find some large wheat fields recently while traveling through parts of Kansas, the harvest is well underway and by the end of this week weather permitting they will all be gone. Thought it would make an appropriate image for the beginning of summer in the heartland.

When I took this shot I had a tendency to straighten the horizon line. But this shot was taken with the camera level as you should be able to tell by the wheat. Unlevel horizon lines really seem to bug me in a photograph and I have straightened some in shots where the camera was level but the horizon wasn’t. This shot seems to works well since the wheat is obviously vertical within the image. I actually passed up on some shot where the the perfectly level horizon made the image look somewhat boring.
