On the advice of my friend Marci who I met at yesterdays GPNP annual meeting I left Pittsburg KS yesterday and traveled a short distance to the town of Weir, population around 700. She told me about a restored gas station that I know I had to check out. I walked around and made some shots of the buildings but kept becoming fascinated with the sign that stood in front. I worked this up using Topaz adjust and a “ghostly” preset.
As I was standing around the old gas station a fella stopped and said I needed to go check out the old city water tower. Built in the very early 1900’s (maybe earlier) this thing is a brick monster! Absolutely wonderful craftsmanship. I like this shot because you can see it’s modern steel replacement in the background. They just don’t make things like they use too.
