The previous night brought ice. Typically not a welcomed sight. But when you can get out and be safe in doing so, the frozen, icy landscape, is nothing short of magical.
I found myself venturing into familiar areas. It becomes difficult to make plans when your not sure what anything will look like once you get there. After an hours drive through the wintry wonderland I found myself at in my childhoods home county and Pottowatomie County State Lake. The small county lake sets in the flint hills as the entire county does offers they typical summertime fishing, picnicking, and camping opportunities.
But this was winter, and a very wintry day at that. Exploring around the small body of water found myself exploring the small creek that drains into the north edge of the lake. Ice coated trees and brush
